As the founders of homes.co.nz, we know first hand that unfortunate property decisions put a burden on Kiwi families every day. Whether it’s getting pinned to an over sized mortgage, wasting endless weekends at auctions, or finding build issues with your new home; it’s never pleasant and can put a massive strain on families.
With New Zealand’s love of property we thought it about time somebody built something to help us all make smarter property decisions. homes.co.nz is doing this by pulling together property data and making it beautifully simple to use.
This is about much more than just property listings. Whether you’re on the hunt for the ultimate neighbourhood, saving for your first home, or wanting insights on a renovation; we’ve got a vision to help you make smarter decisions. Come on the journey with us as we craft the ultimate property portal.
Jamie knows what he wants in a home and acknowledges that DIY isn’t the safest way for him to get there. He recently had a lot of fun managing a renovation project (using professionals) and is enjoying a newfound love for his now warm and inviting home in Wellington.
John’s home blends functionality with five school age kids in residence. He’s got a long lasting love of property which has taught him a thing or two about turning a house into a home. Not every lesson’s been pleasant though; with the biggest coming after ignoring a builder’s report in favour of “potential”.
Michael’s five kids have flown the nest. So with no more free labour he’s ditched the lawn and weekend chores, opting to buy a low maintenance view of the Wellington harbour instead. Now with a little time to relax, all that’s left on his list of chores is to get a spa pool on the deck.
You’ll find Darryl in his home with a garage large enough for a bunch of motorcycles, and one day a massive library with floor to ceiling books. With library complete, he’ll then be torn between the fireplace and garage; enough to distract him from calling the builder to fix his latest DIY job.
Jeremy’s ultimate home is a caravan that’s touring the South Island, but has settled for a North Shore Auckland property for the time being. He recently DIY’d a retaining wall to make a play area for his young kids and is happy to say it’s still holding up the dirt.
Greg lives in a small home, but is so close to the beach that he found sand in his roof while DIYing his insulation recently. He’d love to expand the size of his vacuuming chores by buying something a little larger one day; but the beach just keeps putting those plans on hold.
