Brent grew up in Brightwater and has lived most of his life in the Nelson Region although he did take off for a number of years. He has lived in Antarctica, USA, Canada and travelled extensively in Europe and South America as well.

His favourite mode of travel has been on a bicycle and has bike toured over 32,000 km over the years.

Brent married a Canadian girl (Lorene) along his travels and she has ridden most of those kms as well. Together they have two very special children, Liam & Caitlin, whom they would go to the end of the world (again!) for.

Active in the community that has been so good to him in the past, Brent is always helping out where he can.

The whole family loves to ski and try to take a good ski trip every second year if possible. Brent is a keen mountain biker and rides the trails in the Richmond Hills, Silvan Forest, Nelson and Kaiteriteri Mountain Bike Park as much as he can. You may also spot him catching a snapper or two out in Tasman Bay as well.
