Karen is married and has two children, Jackson and Gemma, at Glendowie Primary Montessori. She was born in Wellington, educated in Wanganui, with qualifications from The Graduate School of New South Wales (Logistic’s management) and Auckland University. She moved to Auckland’s eastern suburbs 26 years ago and now resides in Glendowie.
Karen has a broad depth of commercial experience having worked for a family business, multinationals and large corporates, across numerous industries. She has had her own business, started spin off businesses from corporates, worked behind the entrepreneurs to grow their businesses’ and led teams to over deliver on profits results.
“My focus through all of this has been understanding my customers. What makes them tick, what’s important to them, asking questions and listening – seeking to understand first. Whether playing to my teams’ strengths so they can deliver, or understanding my key clients’ needs and finding a solution that works
Karen’s journey to becoming part of the UP team is the result of her being a UP client both as a buyer and seller, and also a result of the relationship we built with her over the years she was responsible for the Herald Homes section of The New Zealand Herald.
As a result, she has had the unique experience of the real estate industry from a supplier side and personally as a seller and buyer.
“I have brought and sold real estate in the eastern suburbs (both homes and investment properties), but it was the experience as a buyer and seller with UP that made me feel like I was their most important customer and I came away from those experiences being delighted at every turn. It was the team culture of UP that impressed me. They genuinely work together in a transparent manner to deliver the best results for their customer. Their fierce commitment to deliver a quality experience is never compromised. Their values echoed my own”.
Karen’s history adds a blend of commercial understanding and life experience that is a valuable addition to the strength of our brand.
