Becky Zhu came to real estate by an unusual route. She completed a Bachelor of Science at the University of Auckland, majoring in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, and spent her early career in customer service roles. Both turned out to matter more than she expected — the maths for reading a market and pricing a property honestly, the customer service for everything else.
She joined Barfoot & Thompson Browns Bay and now works in partnership with Bob Voss, one of the company's most consistently ranked salespeople. Together they have been in the top three on the North Shore for seven consecutive years.
Becky is fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese, which lets her work with buyers and vendors in whichever language they are most comfortable in. It removes a barrier that quietly costs a lot of vendors money — a buyer who doesn't fully follow how an auction works, or what a LIM report is telling them, is a buyer who bids cautiously or walks away. She also markets on Xiaohongshu (RedNote) and WeChat alongside the usual portals, reaching an audience most North Shore campaigns never touch.
What clients tend to mention afterwards is the involvement. Becky helps with presentation before a campaign starts — furniture, staging, the garden, the small things buyers notice without knowing why. She calls after every open home with the feedback, good or otherwise. She has run open homes through the Christmas period and appeared in a promotional video when that was what a property needed. Vendors describe her as patient, responsive and reliable, and a number have now sold through her twice.
She lives on the North Shore with her family and works the streets she knows first-hand. Her particular strength is new builds, subdivisions and development sites, though she has sold across more than thirty Auckland locations.
Some of Becky's best endorsements come from clients selling with her for the second time — including one family who bought their home through her eight years earlier and came back to her to sell it. Repeat business is the part of this job that can't be marketed into existence.
