Outside of work, Muir is a keen supporter of the Otago Medical Research Foundation through the Club Otago lunch series and annual A Night to Remember dinners, enjoying being alongside the wide variety of medical and health-related research investigations launched as a result of those events. He is a keen road cyclist, training early in the morning to set himself up for the day. Having represented the country previously in the sport, Muir’s current goal is to represent New Zealand once again, in Masters’ cycling.
