Karyn and her family have lived in Maungaturoto on their lifestyle block since 2009, where they raise a small flock of sheep and have a few chooks. With children attending the local schools, Karyn has always been involved in school events and has helped with various fundraisers over the years. Karyn spent several years on the junior rugby club committee where she managed various teams and was also a volunteer on the Maungaturoto Country Club Committee. She is now involved with the Paparoa Golf Club where her husband and son play, with her son representing Northland at several national tournaments.
