I’m a licensed real estate professional proudly working under the trusted Harcourts brand. With a background in high-end hospitality and award-winning business ownership, I bring honest communication, service, and a results-driven approach for my clients

Born with a work ethic forged early, I stepped into professional kitchens at 17, training in French and Italian cuisine at a time when discipline was non-negotiable and standards were unforgiving. That grounding set the tone for a career spent at the sharp end of hospitality. Through the 1980s and 1990s, I worked my way through Auckland’s upper-tier dining scene as a Head Chef and Executive Chef, leading kitchens in premium hotels and restaurants where consistency mattered as much as creativity.

Opportunity and curiosity took me offshore. I cooked aboard cruise ships and superyachts, then into privately owned luxury resorts throughout the Caribbean from 2000 to 2011. These years demanded adaptability, cultural awareness, and precision under pressure—feeding discerning guests in some of the world’s most competitive hospitality environments. You learn quickly that excuses don’t plate well.

Parallel to this, I built long-term financial discipline outside the kitchen. For 29 years, I owned and managed a lifestyle property in Dairy Flat, operating as a landlord for 25 of those years with three houses on the land. Property management taught lessons hospitality never could: patience, structure, and the value of playing the long game.

Family has always been central. I am the father of three sons and a proud grandfather to five grandchildren—my greatest legacy by any measure.

In 2021, I relocated to Mangawhai, drawn by the lifestyle and the future potential of the district. I built a new home here between 2022- 2023, grounding myself in a community that values both growth and quality of life.

Never one to stand still, I transitioned into real estate sales while continuing freelance chef work, including private cooking for homeowners associated with Tara Iti Golf Course. The move into real estate was a natural evolution: negotiating, presenting value, managing expectations, and delivering results—skills refined over decades in high-pressure environments.

From fine dining to property, my life has been defined by discipline

Dear Clients,

Real estate is rarely just a transaction. It’s timing, trust, and knowing when to push—and when to shut up. That balance is where Dave Newman operates best.

Dave is deeply committed to his vendors, not with noise or empty promises, but with preparation, strategy, and follow-through. He understands that selling a property is often one of the largest financial decisions people make, and he treats it accordingly. Every campaign is tailored, every price discussion is grounded in market reality, and every decision is made with one goal in mind: achieving the best possible result, not just a quick one.

Equally important is Dave’s understanding of buyers. He knows what motivates them, what stops them, and what actually gets deals across the line. He listens carefully, reads the room well, and communicates clearly—no pressure, no games. Buyers appreciate dealing with someone who respects their position, answers straight, and doesn’t waste their time. Vendors benefit because informed, confident buyers are the ones who act.

Dave’s strength lies in connecting both sides of the transaction without losing sight of who he represents. He negotiates firmly, ethically, and intelligently, always protecting his client’s interests while keeping deals moving forward. When problems arise—as they inevitably do—he handles them calmly and decisively. Drama is for television, not property.

If you are considering selling, you want someone who knows the market, understands people, and is prepared to do the work properly. If you are buying, you want clarity, honesty, and an agent who understands what you’re trying to achieve.

That is the standard Dave Newman works to—consistently, professionally, and without the nonsense.

Kind regards,

Dave Newman
