As a long-standing local resident of the Pohutukawa Coast Brie has strong emotional ties to the area that she grew up in. 

As a young girl, Brie would walk the beaches gazing up at the beautiful homes that surrounded them and often dreamed of what it would be like to live in those houses. 

As a teenager, she met her now husband Rex who has lived in Maraetai all his life and was at the time practising as a real estate salesperson.
