Your Orakei Expert

Client after client, sale after sale, year after year - you will hear the same feedback about Mike Zelcer. "Nobody knows Orakei better than Mike" (Lynda, Coates Ave). "Unrivalled knowledge of the local market" (Glenn & Dani, Tautari St). "The guru of Orakei real estate" (E.Sullivan, Coates Ave).

After 25 years, Mike's knowledge of and experience in the Orakei real estate market is unparalleled. He has built a strong and enduring relationship with the people of Orakei and become a respected and trusted adviser in the local community. And it was Mike's commitment to this community that saw the opening of Orakei's first Ray White real estate office in Coates Avenue. Mike and co-owner Megan Jaffe joined forces to put Ray White Orakei on the map in June 2011.

Having grown up in the eastern bays, Mike is passionate about his neighbourhood and about giving back. He is an enthusiastic supporter of local schools - Orakei Primary School, Orakei Kindergarten and St Joseph's School - and ensures Ray White Orakei supports a number of fundraisers in the area.

Mike's "Ex" Factor

When it comes to selling houses in uncertain times and in a buyer's market, experience really counts. Just ask Mike's clients - "We were in safe hands and completely at ease" (Mike & Jan, Rautara St); "Helped us through unexpected code of compliance issues" (Chris & Julianna, Ngake St); "Impressed by his professionalism in the negotiation process" (Vincent & Jennifer, Rautara St); "Within 24 hours we had 4 unconditional offers" (Scott, Reihana St).

Prior to becoming a real estate agent, Mike’s early career at the Auckland City Council analysing property transactions set him in good stead. It helps him to bring objectivity and balance into situations where the emotions and stakes are high - and to come out with a result. Mike's experience of different market cycles is also invaluable and ensures clients employ the right strategies at the right time to be successful. Mike’s early career was spent at Auckland City Council analysing and administering property transactions from the ground up – literally. Much of his clientele consisted of property developers, planners and builders. His knowledge and experience of the property business with its associated challenges and changes sets him in good stead for the role he enjoys today at Ray White Orakei.

Since he started as a real estate agent in the late 1990s, Mike has built a strong and enduring relationship with the people of Orakei and the neighbouring suburbs in the eastern bays. It has always been his customary stomping ground and his face is well-known by many in the district. His innumerable clients conduct their property transactions through Mike because they know that his integrity is without question. A respected local and trusted advisor, Mike believes that real estate is an attraction-based business. Mike joined forces with Megan Jaffe in June 2011 to secure a 50% stake in Ray White Orakei – the only real estate office serving and conducting its business within the suburb’s boundaries. Mike is approachable and professional and very, very passionate about his Orakei neighbourhood. He grew up in Mission Bay, and he and his young family have enjoyed all the valuable resources that this prime location has to offer. He is an enthusiastic supporter of Orakei Primary School, Orakei Kindergarten and St Joseph’s School and has been involved in a number of fundraisers.

Ray White Orakei is solidly supported by a parent company whose clear leadership in Australasia and beyond marks it as a brand that can be relied upon to deliver results. Unparalleled systems and an uncompromising gold standard of excellence set Ray White Orakei apart and ahead of its competitors. This ethos matches Mike’s own personal benchmark for exceptional quality in all that he accomplishes.
